How about cutting a brother a break? Please?

Work is still full of work with longer hours for the next two weeks. Getting back to the gym after two weeks off due to shin splints. And still unsettled by a number of decisions that need to be made this year.

Finally, also worried about my kids and the limited positive influences in their lives right now. I shouldn't have to be the bad guy for telling my 14 year old daughter she can't smoke since all of her friends smoke.

My otherwise very strict parents pretty much told me they couldn't stop me from smoking (cigarettes) but I wasn't to do it anywhere near their house. Granted, this led to a 15-year habit, but I probably wouldn't have stopped anyway.

I'm terrified about trying to keep my son from using drugs when he's older, though. I don't even have a real issue with drug use, if it's responsible--but I don't believe in it for young teens.

I didn't have to worry about that. My grandfather let me drink a beer when I was young. I still don't like the taste of beer to this day. And I remember sneaking out and smoking in the backyard. I don't like cigarettes either now.

And I'm very much the same. I understand that for some, it's what they do. I just think that teens should wait until later before they go and do stuff without parental input/guidance. Plus add to the mix that my daughter is a very pretty young woman and it's even worse!!!
